100-household Elder Shot Dead by So-Called PDF Terrorists in Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region

     In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 24 April 2025 at 4:00 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Ywar Thar Kone Village, Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene to conduct further investigation, the victim was identified as U Than Oo (aka) U Han Win (56 years old), a 100-household elder and resident of the village. He was on his way to a betel shop in the village. When he reaching the village’s main road, two so-called PDF terrorists arriving by motorcycle and opened fire on him. As a result, U Than Oo (aka) U Han Win died on the spot, it is reported.
     Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killing the administrative official in the aforementioned case, it is reported.
