In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 21 January 2025 at 2:45 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead near Thaung Pyin Village in Myitthar Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was Administrator U Chit Hlaing (66 years old) and a resident of Min Lal Village in Myitthar Township. The incident occurred when U Chit Hlaing was returning from Myitthar Town to Min Lal Village on his motorcycle, four so-called PDF terrorists approached on two motorcycles and opened fire on him near Thaung Pyin Village. As a result, U Chit Hlaing died on the spot. Additionally, the terrorists took his motorcycle, it is reported.
Similarly, on 22 January 2025 at 10:50 AM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Ma Lot Chaung Village in Kyaikto Township of Mon State. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was U Soe Naing Oo (37 years old), a resident of the village. The investigation revealed that while the victim was at his house, six so-called PDF terrorists arriving by three motorcycles and opened fire on him. As a result, the victim died on the spot, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and assassinations of administrative official and innocent civilian in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
