KIA armed insurgents and the so-called PDF terrorists have been infiltrating certain townships and villages within Kachin State. They have been using civilians homes and religious buildings as bases, using innocent civilians as human shields and disrupting security personnel and outposts from a distance. They have also been carrying out sneak attacks and destroying essential infrastructure such as roads and bridges, which are crucial for the development of the nation. These groups, in carrying out their activities, forcibly abduct innocent civilians who are living peacefully in the villages they infiltrate. They coerce and intimidate these civilians, pressuring them into joining their ranks and compelling them to participate in acts of violence. This includes forcibly recruiting new members and forcing them to engage in terrorist activities against their will.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 20 February 2025 at 9:50 PM, approximately 60 armed insurgents from the KIA and the so-called PDF terrorist group infiltrated Ping Kyine Village in Ping Baw Village Tract, Moekaung Township. They forcibly entered the homes of peaceful local residents and abducted 42 men and 4 women, aged between 18 and 45. The victims were tied up with ropes and taken to a location about 6 miles southeast of Pankyin Village, known locally as Nwar La Boe Taung. This incident highlights the ongoing threats and violence faced by innocent civilians in the region, it is reported.
Similarly, on 23 February at 2:00 AM, approximately 20 armed insurgents from the KIA and the so-called PDF terrorist group entered Tatkone Ward in Myitkyina Town using two vehicles. They forcibly abducted 28 innocent civilians staying at the “MYITKYINA SKY” motel and the “GREAT” guesthouse within the ward. The victims were bound and taken away by the armed group. This incident further underscores the ongoing violence and threats to civilians in the region.
Security personnel are continuing their efforts to swiftly rescue the innocent civilians who were forcibly abducted by these terrorists. The public is urged to report any information about the activities of terrorist groups to the security personnel confidentially. Immediate action will be taken to address such threats and ensure the safety of the people.
