Innocent Civilians, Including Monks and Children, Injured and Killed in Heavy Weapon Attack in Kawkareik Township of Kayin State by Pro-Terrorism KNU Members and So-Called PDF Terrorists

     Terrorists committing inhuman acts have been engaging in battles, firing heavy weapons and improvised rockets and dropping bombs using drones into the residential areas, including towns, wards and villages.
     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 15 April 2025 at 7:40 AM, a faction of pro-terrorism KNU members, along with so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy weapons into Nwar Chan Kone Village in Kyone Doe Town, Kawkareik Township of Kayin State. The shells exploded within the village. As a result, Ko Ye Min Tun (20 years old) and Daw Ni Ni Win (30 years old), both residents of the village, died on the spot, it is reported.
     Similarly, at 12:30 PM, a faction of pro-terrorism KNU members, along with so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy weapons into Kan Ni Village in Kyone Doe Town, Kawkareik Township. The shells exploded within the village, resulting in shrapnel injuries to the following monks from the Maha Vihara Pariyatti Monastery in the village: Shin Sittara Nyana (17 years old), Shin Wicekkha (16 years old), Shin Nyana Thasi (15 years old), Shin Wanna Thiri (15 years old), Shin Osatha (15 years old), Shin Pumma Rama (20 years old with a year in monkhood), Nanda Mala (50 years old with 30 years in monkhood), Thila Wuntha (63 years old with 40 years in monkhood), Shin Warama (25 years old with five years in monkhood) and Shin Dhamma Sarmi (15 years old). Additionally, the following village residents sustained shrapnel wounds: Daw Than Aye (69 years old), Daw Ekari Aung (25 years old), Ma Yon Hteuu (five years old), Ma Hnin Tha Zin Htet (10 years old), Daw Kyu Kyu Win (34 years old), Daw Aye Khine (42 years old) and Mg Shwe Ohn Nanda (six years old). All the injured individuals were transported to Mawlamyine District Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
     Likewise, at 7:00 PM, a faction of pro-terrorism KNU members, along with so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy weapons into No. 3 Ward in Kawkareik Township. The shells exploded within the ward, resulting in shrapnel wounds to Ma Aye Thida Lwin (25 years old), a resident of the ward. She was transported to the No. 5 field military medical unit for medical treatment, it is reported.
     Due to the heinous acts of armed terrorists such as engaging in battles and firing of heavy weapons and improvised rockets within towns, wards and villages where innocent civilians peacefully reside, many innocent people, including monks and children, have been injured and killed. Consequently, local residents are protesting vehemently against these acts of terrorism, completely refusing to accept them. Security personnel are intensifying necessary security measures in collaboration with the local residents, it is reported.
