Innocent Civilians, Including Monks, Killed and Injured in Heavy Weapon Attack by So-Called PDF Terrorist Faction in Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region 

     Terrorists committing inhuman acts have been engaging in battles, firing heavy weapons and improvised rockets and dropping bombs using drones into the residential areas, including towns, wards and villages.
     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 26 April 2025 at 7:30 AM, a so-called PDF terrorist faction fired heavy weapons into Zahar Village in Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region. The shells exploded within the village. As a result, Venerable Sanda Thiri (57 years old), (36 years in monkhood) and Venerable Pon Nya (75 years old), (40 years in monkhood), both from the Zahar Monastery in the village, sustained shrapnel wounds. Additionally, U Myo Kyaw (45 years old) and Daw Lay Lay (aka) Daw Swe Zin Aung (43 years old), both residents of the village, died on the spot from the blasts. The injured and deceased individuals were transported to Dawei Township Public Hospital for medical treatment and examination, it is reported.
     Due to the heinous acts of armed terrorists such as engaging in battles and firing heavy weapons and improvised rockets into towns, wards and villages where innocent civilians peacefully reside, civilians including monks, casualties have been reported. Consequently, local residents are protesting vehemently against these acts of terrorism, completely refusing to accept them. Security personnel are intensifying necessary security measures in collaboration with the local residents, it is reported.
