On the morning of 20 June 2025, a handingover ceremony was held at Zay Yar Thiri Hall in the Northwest Regional Military Command. In that occasion, members of the so-called PDF, who had attended training courses in ethnic armed organization territories but had not committed any criminal acts, were welcomed back to the legal fold and formally entrusted to their parents or guardians. The ceremony was attended by U Myat Kyaw, the Chief Minister of Sagaing Region, Brigadier General Myo Min Htway, the Commander of Northwest Regional Military Command, relevant departmental officials, the PDF members who returned to the legal fold and their parents or guardians.
At the outset, the Chief Minister of Sagaing Region delivered the opening remarks. After that, the Military Regional Commander made an awareness raising briefing to those who are coming to legal fold on maintaining regional stability and peace, as well as relevant legal provisions. Subsequently, officials had signed pledge documents to the 24 returning individuals: 22 male and 2 female members of the so-called PDF entering the legal fold. They were then entrusted to their parents or guardians and provided them with financial support and food stuff.
The State Government has already announced that the organizations including PDF, are welcomed if they enter the legal fold for their normal civilian lives by surrendering their weapons following rules and regulations to participate in future work plans of the country. Therefore, as members of the PDF who have not committed any crimes continue to return to the legal fold in various regions and states, the responsible authorities are handing them over to their parents or guardians, it is reported.
