Two Monks and Four Innocent Civilians Released from So-Called PDF Terrorist Group in Kambalu Township of Sagaing Region

Terrorist groups have been engaging in battles, carrying out attacks using heavy weapons, drones to drop bombs and improvised explosive devices across towns and villages in various states and regions. Moreover, they are committing inhumane acts of terror and criminal activities-including abducting and extorting money from local civilians, as well as killings.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 3 July 2025 at 2:00 PM, two monks; named Sirainja (aka) U Swe Oo (53 years old with 33 years in monkhood) and named Vi Su Ta (aka) U Tin Nyein (54 years old with 42 years in monkhood), both monks from a monastery in San Da Yar Village, Kambalu Township of Sagaing Region, were travelling in a vehicle from Yangon to Kambalu Town. Accompanying them were four other residents of the village: U Chan Thar Tun (45 years old), U Tin Thein (64 years old), Daw Tin Kyaing (61 years old) and U Kyaw Myint (63 years old). When they reached an area near Yae Kyi Oo Village in Kambalu Township, a so-called PDF terrorist group forcibly stopped the vehicle and abducted all individuals, along with the vehicle, before leaving for Yae Shin Village. On 8 July 2025 at 4:00 PM, the terrorists brought the victims back near Gway Kone Village and released them. However, the terrorists forcibly took their mobile phones and vehicle, it is reported.
Regarding the above incident, security personnel are continuing necessary operations in accordance with standard procedures to identify, apprehend and take action against the terrorists involved, it is reported.
